Testing out the Glasshouse to raise seeds during Summer. Melbourne weather has been up and down more than usual – 18 degrees one day, 30 degrees the next.

🥵 What we didn’t count on was a 40 degree day

😅 Four of us started harvesting at 9.30am and finally left at 2pm

Sadly, around 10% of the Sunflowers planted in the beds on Chaucer Street have been nicked (in one case, by a partner of a plotholder, who said “but they’re for the community”). Posted in RISK Facebook Group 4th Jan 2026.

2 Black Cherry Tomatoes, 3 Red Cherry Tomatoes – 1 stolen, others close to harvesting
4 Beetroot – eaten (delicious)
1 Cos Lettuce – eaten
2 Buttercrunch Lettuce – died (too close to cucumbers)
3 Biet Alpha Cucumbers – 2 died, others have loads of baby cucumbers
2 Spacemaster Cucumbers – pulled out one plant, other cucumbers have bitter skin
2 Blackjack Zucchinis – transplanted one into main plot

Sweet & Thai Basil – as expected
2 Black Cherry, 2 Red Cherry, 3 Cherry Roma tomatoes – 1 stolen, others close to harvesting
4 Buttercrunch lettuce – 2 survived, still harvesting leaves
Dwarf Green Beans (from seed)
