Turns out the Dwarf Bean seeds didn’t have any juice left in them – none popped up. The leftover Green Feast peas all died, but the Coriander is living its best life 🙂

Loaded up the plot next to us with Dwarf bean seeds (will interesting to see if they have run out of juice, or were they just eaten by birds in our plot), left over Green Feast peas & Coriander.

Planted seedlings today after not much luck with seeds, from what was left at the local nursery : Coriander & Green Feast peas.

Not much luck with seeds this winter. Even with a second try, next year we will stick to seedlings (if we repeat this year’s cover of sugar cane mulch).

We tried Beetroot (okay), Carrots (not bad), Dwarf beans (3 plants, 1 died after being trampled), Sugar & Snap peas (4 plants).

A lot has changed in the last 2 months – there’s no need to water the patch every day and temperatures are dropping…

What we’re doing now

Once a week, we venture in to harvest Kale and Cos lettuce, both great Winter crops. We have enough to share with friends and still have some left over for ourselves.

Carrots, peas and chives are growing slowly (we learnt our lesson to limit how much we planted). Our only casualty has been the baby spinach, which never looked healthy and clearly didn’t like its environment…maybe it was the Kale…
